We are back from Taiwan!

Wow!! It's already the beginning of May! And so much has already happened. Where should I start at? Hmm..

Well, part one of our wedding happened on 23 April 2011. Seng and I are legally married on that day at St Hilda's Secondary School. We had our solemnisation ceremony back in our secondary school. It was significant to us as this was the place we first met. The ROM was fun I would say. I think I will let the photos speak for themselves. Click here to see photos taken by a good friend of mine, Zhiyong. He's a photographer by trade and I want to thank him for taking time out to attend my ROM and also take photos for us. He's not our official photographer though. A shoutout to Zhiyong!!

And below are some photos taken by another good friend of ours Dun Xiang. These are some photos taken off from FB. To see all photos, click here.

I'm waiting for the photos from our photographer, which I think will be awesome too. Overall, super duper happy that everything went smoothly. Appreciate Seng for taking up alot of the ROM planning as well our Taiwan trip planning as he knew that I was extremely busy and stressed out by work.

The next day, we flew over to Taiwan for our bridal shoot cum family potrait cum holiday. But I will keep that for another day once I have the photos sorted out. Haha!!

Excluding the month of August, as it is the lunar 7th month, which we are not allowed to do anything for the wedding, it is about another 3 months to my actual day. It's going to be crazy busy from now. Not just for the wedding but also for other things, one of which is me trying to get out of my current company. But that's for my personal blog to tell.

Anyways, I will sort out the photos for the Taiwan trip and update the bridal shoot.

Meantime, take care everyone. Stay happy and healthy everyone!

It's April already! Updates so far...

Whew!!!

It's been so long since I updated this blog. Been so busy with work of late and also packed weekends that I did not get a chance to sit down and write in my blog.

Anyways, updates on what has been going on lately.

I went to the tailor to get my cheongsum done. I think I mentioned that in the last entry. Haha! But yeah, waiting for the first fitting which would be on the first weekend of April. Seng also got his suit done and we went for his first fitting yesterday. The shirts were ready but his vest and jacket were not yet completed. The fitting will finalize the cut and the fitting of the jacket and suit on him. He looks really good in his suit and all. Haha!

Update: I just went for my first fitting today. Love love love the cheongsum! It looks sloppy as it doesn't fit right. I apparently lost some weight since my last visit to the tailor. But I'm loving my new dress!!! Seng has also gotten his suit already. <3

We attended the marriage preparation course recently and it was interesting. We found out more about each and had a better understanding of each other. We will be having our follow up session with one of the counselors next week. That should be interesting too.

Update: We've already gone for our first 1 on 1 session with a counsellor. Talked about alot of stuff. There is still alot of understanding to do. Haha!
What else? Hmmm....

We had the meet the parents lunch. It was really nerve wrecking for me coz I felt like they might end up arguing or something. But it turned out well, even though my family had our family had some questions, concerns and doubts of our own. I'm not sure about certain things and some of the things that Seng's parents asked for are kinda off for my understanding of certain traditions. Looks I've a lot of researching to do.

Jojo from Ivy Brides called and I think we pretty much have most of the stuff settled. The hotel has been booked. Only thing outstanding are the day tours. But I guess most of the trip is pretty much settled. We are still looking at where to go and what to do. Haha! Still taking our time on that.

I guess that is pretty much it for now. Seng is also doing up the ROM day programme, and I'm supposed to add on stuff to it. Haha! There should be more updates from now on I guess coz it's just another 3 weeks to thh ROM and Taiwan trip.

Stay happy and healty everyone!

53 days to go...

Oh my goodness!!!!

It is already the end of Febuary, and Chinese New Year has ended a good 2 weeks ago! In fact, I'm writing this on the last day of February. Wow, time passes so quickly. Oh yeah! Happy Belated New Year everyone!!

Great news!!! I have already booked my makeup artist. It was the same makeup artist that came up to my place on Saturday to do a makeup trial for me. Below are some of the pictures that was taken. My family was home that day and my parents liked her work, which was good. I showed the photos to Seng , my aunt, cousins and colleagues. There was a common comment. They all said I looked different. The power of makeup! Lol!!! Her name is Betty and she is from Taiwan, and she has lived in Singapore for aout 4 years now. She was introduced to me by a common friend, who is actually my polymate from Nanyang Poly. And he is a photographer, so they have worked together on set quite a number of times together.

This is the day look.

This is the evening look.

They look the same, only the eyeshadow is different. However, keep in mind that this is a trial makeup. But I'm looking at her skills and the hair was done in a simple style. She will stye it accordingly when she sees my outfit, which by the way, it still not yet made. But it has already started. I've already visited the tailor and I have sorted out my design and fabric with my tailor. The first fitting will be on 2 or 3 April. I hope it turns out the way I think it would be.

Seng and I have also signed up for a marriage preparation course. I figured that it would be good to attend one and learn things about marriage and such. Of course it was not complusory for us to attend, but I felt that it would benefit both of us. So yeah! Our course actually starts this coming Saturday with 3 other couples. That's the first round, and then we will attend our own individual sessions. Exciting huh? But there is an evaluation that both Seng and I have to do.

What else? Oh yes!! Seng and I popped by to his tailor to get his suit started. It was fun choosing fabrics and matching colours for his suit. It was too bad that he was not able to attend my first meeting with my tailor. But yeah, he made a coat, pair of pants, a vest and 2 shirts. And his coat is a manderin collar coat. I think it's going to be really cool when he puts it on for the actual day. =P

One other thing, we went down to HDB yesterday to sign the lease of agreement and put a portion of our down payment for our new home. Loads of papers to sign, and by the end of it, we were smiling when we left the officer's desk. It only hit us a few hours later that we actually paid a pretty huge sum for our home. LOL!! We met a fellow primary schoolmate there, who was also doing the same as us. She is going to be our neighbour! How exciting is that?!?! Haha!!! But yeah, we are just excited about everything.

Our ROM location.. Hmm.. There has been news that that GE is coming up, and we are going to be holding out ROM in our secondary school, so at this moment, we are confirming with the school on whether it is going to be a poll station or not. It's nerve wrecking and we are praying so hard that it would not be, and it if is, that GE day will not fall anywhere in April. I will start killing people if that happens. -_-

I think that's about it for now. Well, that is as much as I can remember for now. Lol!! March will start tomorrow, and it's going to be a  crazy, busy, and expensive month. But it's going to be exciting as well. We are counting down..

Stay happy and healthy everyone!

Updates so far..

Let's see what are the updates so far...

The makeup artist that I had an appointment with has been booked for 25 Sep. Which means that I will have to search for another makeup artist. I posted my request on FB and some of friends have recommended their friends or their makeup artist who did their makeup for them on their wedding day. I have an appointment with one of friend's partner in work. He is a photographer and she is the makeup artist, and they work together. She called me and we spoke for abit, and I asked my friend if she was Taiwanese and it turned out that she was. Haha!! Seng's colleague recommended her cousin's makeup artist. The price is pretty reasonable but I want to see how my friend's partner works out. If she is good then I might go with her. I hope she does not mind my Mandarin. Lol!

Seng has already put the deposit down for the photographer and videographer. I think I might have mentioned this in my previous post. Lol! In any case, we have that out of the way. Now, we are looking into our ROM dress and suit, which we will go to our respective tailors to have them started on. I'm so excited about getting my cheongsum done. Can't wait for CNY to pass. Lol!

And after CNY has passed, Seng and I will have to arrange for the meet the parents session. I keep reminding my parents to prepare their list of items that they might want to ask for for dowry, but I think so far, they have not jotted down anything. Lol! We will also need to consolidate the ROM guest list. It's a pretty long list of people, when Seng and I counted just the other day. It's crazy! I will have to start playing around with designs for the ROM invitation cards. Haha!

I've another problem on hand right now, but hopefully there will be a decision and that everything will go smoothly. Sigh..

Anyhoots, currently I'm waiting for my makeup trial appointment this Saturday, and hopefully we get along just fine and that I can make a decision on the makeup artist and get that out of the way. Lol!

Stay happy and healthy!

Love,

MUA and Invitation cards

I'm still looking around for a makeup artiste. Has anyone got anyone to recommend?

In any case, someone one FB left me a message in my inbox, and honestly, I really do not know if it was a coincidnece or not, but this person is a makeup artiste. I contacted her and she has given me her price list. It seems reasonable. There's another recommended by my friend, but her FB page does not seem to have anything to do with bridal makeup. But her pricing seems really affordable too. I'm asking the first MUA on certain details but her list is very comprehensive, and the prices include the trial and ampoules. The only down part is that she charges an extra fee on the 2nd march in makeup and hair for the actual day, but I guess that is ok. Waiting for her to get back to me and I will take it from there. Oh~ I found another makeup artiste, just emailed her. There are loads of great reviews on her FB page.

I would also have to print invitation cards for my ROM, more so my guests will know when, where and how to get there. Looks like I will get to do my postcard style invitation cards afterall. Yippee!!!! =D So, I'm looking around for inspirations and I'm kind of leaning towards the oriental style, but still keeping my options opened. I'm also playing around with our names to create a monogram that I can use for the inivitation cards. But somehow, my creative juices are not really flowing lately. I think I lack sleep. Hmm...

What else?

Ah yes! I will need to look up for designs and inspirations for my Cheongsum. I'll be going to the tailor after the Chinese New Year to get my dress started on. =D Seng and I will need to look into the meet-the-parents session, which will happen after the Chinese New Year as well. It's like it's going to be full speed ahead once the Chinese New Year is over. It's beginning to get more exciting!

Went to Ikea, and just got home. I got a message from the first MUA. She's available for my ROM, but for my AD, there are 2 other couples asking about that date and whoever puts the deposit down first gets her for that day. So, right now I'm thinking do I just go into it and book her for both days, or book her for the ROM and then at a later date get another MUA for my AD. I don't really want t book her for both days coz I've not tried her services, and the ROM is a good chance to try her out, and if I like her then I book her for the AD. It looks like I don't have that option. Hmm.... Kinda in a dilemma. -_- Just spoke to Seng about it, I will sleep on it tonight and make my decision tomorrow. =D

Stay happy and healthy!
